SWEET HEARTS PRESCHOOL STORY
With our progressive and holistic early childhood education philosophy, we understand that each child has unique needs and interests. We provide the environment and tools your child needs to thrive to the best of their abilities.
When we expose children to different environments and various learning experiences, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them. Once they leave Sweet Hearts Preschool, they’re fully prepared for the next stage of their young lives.
OUR PROGRAMS
Learning Through Play
The educational programs at Sweet Hearts Preschool were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about each program.
IMAGINATIVE PLAY
Imaginative play is important for the development of children’s cognitive and social skills. The process of pretending builds skills in many essential developmental areas, socially and emotionally. When children engage in imaginative play they are actively experimenting with the social and emotional roles of life
OUTDOOR PLAY
Children are naturally drawn to playing outside and there are numerous benefits of outdoor play: It allows them to explore their environment, develop muscle strength, coordination, and gain self-confidence. Outdoor play also enables children to enjoy the natural environment and learn to seek out exercise, fresh air, and activity
ART LESSONS
At our school Art is very important! It builds skills and improves academic outcomes. Art promotes creativity, promotes patience and determination, and also promotes dedication in the child's work. Art can drastically improve your child's fine motor skills and enhance their creative problem-solving abilities.
GRACE & COURTESY
Children between the ages of 2 1/2 and six years old are in the sensitive period for learning courtesy and manners. This is why the focus for this age group is based on providing students with the vocabulary, actions and steps that they need to develop their interpersonal skills to respond to their environment. Grace and Courtesy at Sweet Hearts Preschool gives each student the ability to develop and refine social skills while building self-esteem and independence.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Early Language Arts experiences can shape the way that children communicate through the written and spoken word as they grow and develop. At Sweet Hearts Preschool we have assorted Language Arts activities, one in particular is object-to-picture matching, which is the next step in pre-reading skills. This activity builds vocabulary, and visual discrimination. This activity also develops abstraction- young children make a connection that the object they have in their hand is what they see in the picture
MATH & SCIENCE
Our school involves substantial amounts of foundational math as they explore patterns, shapes, and spatial relations; compare magnitudes; and count objects. Integrating math and science concepts in everyday activities enhances cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, and thus their overall growth. Skills and concepts that children learn while they are young will expand as they gain experience and knowledge over time. Math and science vocabulary and concepts are essential for reading comprehension, because early math and science instruction develops language within those subjects.
GEOGRAPHY
Geography develops children's understanding of the environment, the natural world, modified landscapes and the social environment. Geography guides children to recognize how changes to places and the environment happen and affect us, both as a result of natural processes and through human activity. At Sweet Hearts Preschool the children will study a different topic in Geography each month to expose them to the world around them.
BOTANY
Botany studies at Sweet Hearts Preschool are supported by experiments that illustrate how the plant meets its needs, how plant systems function, and the importance of plants to the ecosystem. Our students are actively involved in growing, caring for and observing plants in the classroom. Botany work also parallels studies in geography, history and zoology that explore the role of plants on Earth. It is our goal that the children understand, from these studies, the interdependence of all life forms and the important role humans must assume to protect and preserve life on Earth.
